The 33rd issue of the Market News Service (MNS) Medicinal Plants and Extracts report was released in December 2009. Prepared by the International Trade Centre, the aim of the report is to promote international trade in medicinal plants and botanical extracts. Additional features have been included after extensive consultation with existing subscribers and trade experts. This edition incorporates six regional reviews - Africa; China and other East Asian countries; Europe; India and other Asian countries; North America and South America. It features information on the fast-growing supply chain of medicinal and aromatic plants and extracts that are coming into the global marketplace with value-adding certifications or verifications that demonstrate evidence of sustainable resource management and production - ie ecological, economical and social sustainability practices throughout the supply chain. There is also a Global Herb Trade Association Directory and trade specifications for medicinal plants and extracts from each of the six regions covered. Incorporated in the report is news on the demand and supply trends as well as industry news from the major producers in each region; indicative prices of raw materials and indicative prices of herbal extracts.
